Cushing’s Disease

“I am writing about my dog, Casper. Casper is a Bichon Frise. He is five years old and the most wonderful little dog. Casper was well when he was a puppy, although they said he had a heart murmur.

About two years ago, Casper was getting into a lot of trouble. His eyes would have infections. One time he ate quite a bit of dark chocolate and ended up in the emergency room. The vet would give him antibiotics. Things would clear up for a while and then, we were back at the vet’s office with the same problem or something else.

About a year and a half ago, we went to the vet and were given some more antibiotics. Casper was also very stinky. Casper’s eyes secret a substance that smells and turns his fur pink or red. His hair was thinning and he was breaking out with round acne filled with greenish discharge. The antibiotics seemed to help for a while but then a little while later, the problems were back.

I started looking for a different doctor and found a Chinese Herbal Medicine vet and a Homeopathic vet. Casper’s diagnosis was Cushing’s disease. He was not doing well. Dr. Garthee put him on antibiotics and some Chinese herbs. He did get better, but the minute we stopped the antibiotics, the pustules came back full force. We put him back on antibiotics and the pustules went away.

It was at this time I discovered the minerals supplement that was to change my dog’s health. I started giving it to him, even though I knew it was made for people, and Casper started feeling better. He got more energy, started acting more like a dog, wanting to go for walks and just having more energy. The most surprising thing for me was when Casper started getting hair. You’ll understand why when I explain to you that Casper had lost most of his hair. He looked more like a rat than a dog (my apologies Casper). He had a rat tail and if you know anything about Bichons, they usually have a plume of hair on their tails. He itched all over, his elbows and his knees were like thick leather and so was the skin on his neck. The rest of his skin was very dry too. I did apply some moisturizer to his dry areas as well.

But the most important thing happened when we decided to discontinue the antibiotics. This time though, Casper was taking the mineral supplements. We stopped the antibiotics hoping that the pustules would not come back in full force. Much to our surprise, they did not come back full force but just a few here and there and then they would clear up. We could not be happier. We were so excited. Because I knew that there are many dogs out there that are suffering right now from skin problems and Cushing’s without getting any relief, I decided to write this testimonial in hopes of helping them get better.
